Lemme just preface this by saying you KNOW something is GOOD by the amount of images shown.  I must have taken at least 100 shots just for this post and had a hell of a time narrowing them down.  Just saying’ guys.  Just sayin’.

I present to you ‘the Dough Bar‘ DOUGHnuts…

Corina Nielsen- Dough Bar-1

This company is making quite a splash in the fitness community (and by splash, I mean more of a tsunami).  As each week and every doughnut release takes place, the amount of customers and following for this company grows and grows.  What started out as a great idea, snowballed into so much more for Marquez and Ondrea.  SIDENOTE: nothing bring she more happiness than seeing someone have a vision, making moves to make that vision a reality, and making greater successes than they could have dreamed of.  I dig that shit.

So, what’s the big idea?

About Marquez and Their Vision…

“We’re just two ordinary people who are extraordinarily enthusiastic about living a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the foods we love, especially DOUGHnuts! With backgrounds in health care, business and social work, we are sincerely passionate about supporting the health and well being of others. Basically, our love for staying active and enjoying sweet treats together resulted in The Dough Bar. Our vision for The Dough Bar is to provide health conscious folks the ability to enjoy a once devilishly sweet treat- now macro friendly and packed with protein, guilt free! But to be honest, we consider The Dough Bar’s mission to be more meaningful than simply baking DOUGHnuts.

Health, wellness, service and celebration are the pillars of our business. We want to encourage and support the good health of our customers, by providing a nutritious alternative to a “cheat treat”. We aim to inspire wellness in our customer’s lives by highlighting the advantages of living an active lifestyle. We will give a portion of our monthly sales to a nonprofit organization which serves the community, whether it be fighting childhood obesity or promoting a healthier lifestyle. Finally, we want to display and foster a spirit of sincere celebration among the community of our customers. There are so many inspirational stories we’ve come across in such a short amount of time already- we want to share that joy and gratitude with as many people as possible.

About The Doughnuts

  • handcrafted (yeast based dough from healthy flours, made from scratch, cut, shaped, baked, and individually wrapped)
  • baked, not fried
  • no added chemicals or preservatives
  • meticulously calculated macros/nutritional information
  • various sizes, glazes, toppings, and ordering options to ensure anyone can fit these into their diet
  • fast shipping to ensure freshness

A Closer Look

Simply upon receiving your shipment of doughnuts, I was already impressed.  Packaging, company branding, and the small attention to detail truly shows how handcrafted and special this company is.  Not only do you get a breakdown of the nutritional facts for EACH element in your box, but you also get an about, storage, care, and ‘instruction’ sheet with each order.

Let’s get down to business shall we?

I got a variety doughnut pack (‘cheat’ day, ‘everyday’, and ‘prep’ day).  It comes with all 3 different sizes the company offers which is PERFECT for those who carb cycle (low carb, moderate, and high carb days).  Having this option is also great for days when you have some room to play with your macros… some days you may want to fit a bigger doughnut in and other days you may only need a smaller one in.

In addition to the “naked” doughnuts, you also get a variety of glazes and of course toppings.  I LOVE how you can easily customize each and every doughnut depending on what you are in the mood for.  Even if you absolutely LOVE one type of doughnut, having the option to change things up is a great feature!

My Dough Bar DOUGHnut creations

Because I didn’t know when I would be eating everything (I knew I would keep them ALL for myself, no sharing these with the family), I decided to keep half in the fridge for that week and then the others in the freezer for the following week.  It ended up working out great that way and everything tasted just as good the first day as the last day!

I’m not sure what was more fun, pairing the glazes with the toppings or eating my doughnuts.  OK, that’s a lie.  Of course eating was better, but playing with my flavors was super cool also!

And now just because you get all of the glazes and toppings you need for each of your doughnuts, doesn’t mean you can’t get even more creative and add your own special touch!  Since I’m a true believer that EVERYTHING is better with nut butter, I went ahead and added some BuffBake (my FAVORITE brand- 10% off using coupon code corinabuffbake)!  Oh dear God.  I think I kept my eyes closed the entire time I ate this one.

Another aspect to the company that I have so much respect for is they GIVE BACK to a great cause.

“One in 3 children in the United States is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. In honor of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, The Dough Bar encourages your family to make healthy changes together.

  • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park.
  • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
  • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.

Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight.”

The company finds it their PRIVILEGE to give a portion of their monthly sales to nonprofit organizations, specifically, organizations assisting in the fight against childhood obesity and/or diabetes.

If that wasn’t icing on the cake (or doughnut in this case)… I LOVED this excerpt from their site as well:

“Our business is truly about connecting people who want to encourage and inspire one another. Our #DOUGHnut giveaways aren’t random – we reward customers who get active and encourage others to do the same. In a world of social media inundated with shaming, discouraging and insulting others, The Dough Bar believes in lifting one another up. We love sincere enthusiasm, a good pat on the back, word of encouragement or cheer with confidence. When we see our customers excited about caring for others, our mission is accomplished!”

So incredibly impressed with the Dough Bar.  Amazing taste.  Great texture.  Awesome macros.  Perfect variety and room for customization.  I’m a fan guys.  Serious fan.  Obviously, I know my way around a kitchen and baking is like second nature to me.  I’ve made PLENTY of protein donuts during the course of my fitness journey, but I assure you that NONE of them are quite the same as ‘the DOUGHbar’ product.

This is one company I am more than proud to support!!!

And let me just end this post with a word of advice.. if you are interested in trying out ‘the DOUGHbar’, mark your calendars and set an alarm for their weekly releases!  Due to limited man power and the nature of handcrafted products, the company releases doughnuts EVERY Thursday at 7am PST.  I kid you not folks, everything is SOLD OUT within a matter of hours (if not minutes).  If I were you, I would set an alarm for 6:45am and sit with the site open on your computer or phone and order IMMEDIATELY!!!!  No joke.  Like seriously.

ENJOY!!!
