There are MANY different ways to approach a ketogenic way of eating (or any way of eating for that matter)….

When someone mentions a ketogenic diet, the first foods most people will think of are bacon, butter, cheese, more bacon, and more cheese.  While these particular foods can and do work for many to help them reach their goals, my approach is very very different BECAUSE you need to understand my goals are very very different.   A keto diet to strictly lose weight will differ from someone doing a medical keto diet to treat something like epilepsy or cancer, AND someone like myself on a nutritional ketogenic diet that is whole foods & nutrient dense based will typically care less about hitting specific macros but instead focus on specific nutrients.  As you will see from this video, the foods I choose to fill my macros with aren’t the typical keto foods either.

My goal with this video is to show you that keto can be extremely nutrient dense with the main focus on fueling your body with the most optimal foods possible, NOT necessarily just fitting things into your daily macros.

Also, while on the subject of macros… I want to mention that I have NOT tracked macros in over 2 years now…. ok wait, thats a lie.  When I first started keto last September, I did track my calories for about 3-4 weeks just to make sure that I was eating enough.  But aside from that brief period, I haven’t tracked in quite some time.  However, I did think it would be interesting to see where my macros were currently at so I have included that information with each of my meals and snacks!

You can skip to 2:25 where the “eating” begins 🙂

There ya go!  A full day of keto!

Last notes mentioned in the video…

First as you can see my calories are pretty high for my height, weight, and activity level.  If you look at any online calculator and put in stats for someone who is 39, 5′, around 100 pounds and fairly sedentary they will all say I should be eating anywhere from 800-1000 calories.  Clearly I’m eating well over that.  What is this witch craft and wizardry???  Very healthy hormones and a fully functioning metabolism that has never dieted or several restricted my calories!  Regardless of which eating style I choose, I’m able to keep my calories fairly high for my size and age.

And second, you’ll notice that my carbs are a lot higher than the standard keto diet range which is typically under 20-30 grams.  Again, healthy metabolism BUT I also didn’t start keto this way.  Remember I’ve been eating this way for over 9 months and my body is fully adapted to running on ketones.  When I first started keto, I was strict about keeping my net carbs under 30 grams.  I did this consistently for at least 4-5 months before I even attempted to increase my carbs.  I definitely do not suggest being wish washy about your keto macros in the beginning, all you’ll do is confuse your body and it will continue to look for glucose before fat.

This was a very very typical day of eating for me and at this point I can’t imagine eating any other way.

I love my food and everything I eat.  But more importantly I absolutely love what keto has done to help my medical conditions.  Between the consistent reduced pain, the lowered inflammation levels, normalizing of biomarkers, the crazy increased steady energy, and the mental clarity I have on a daily basis… going on this particular ketogenic protocol is by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I hope you enjoyed the video and found something useful to take away from it.  If you like what you saw, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up.  Also, if you have any questions about keto, Intermittent fasting, the specific protocol I’m on, or the foods I’m eating please ask away!  I’d be happy elaborate!!!
